- Ask client to check that all cables are seated correctly in the back of the station/server/switch or router
- Check that all IP's are set to static range, under no circumstance are you allowed to set IP to DHCP at site
- Check that firewall is off
- Check that you can ping workstation/server, if you cannot ping the pc, open run and then type in \\PCNAME and if prompted to enter user name and password do so, try again to ping the station/server
- On server, open SQL configuration manager and check under network protocols that the dynamic port is blank and the TCP/IP port is 1433
- Check if the MS SQL Server and SQL server browser services are running
